From Kokkinopilos (1,100 m) the path heads south across the Stalamatia stream and then turns east, following the river up through the gorge to an alpine plateau.
It joins a forest road to Megali Gourna and the emergency refuge (2,550 m), then climbs towards the Skolio peak (2,911 m) before turning left along the ridge to Skala (2,866 m).
The park describes it as the natural continuation of the E4 path between Litochoro and Skala, walked in the opposite direction.
